Fremont County Pioneer Museum Lander

Codsiogo-Hide-2The Fremont County Pioneer Museum in Lander is the County’s oldest museum.  The collections and exhibits represent the complex history of the area in which Native Americans, emigrants along the Pioneer Trails, Miner’s, Farmers, Ranchers, Military and Railroad came together to shape the coarse of events for the region, State and Nation.

Explore the Mechanical Gardens outside the Pioneer Museum to discover the tools and machinery that helped the early settlers carve a living out of a rugged and unforgiving country.

The Fremont County Pioneer Museum shares a site with the Museum of the American West.  The MAW features historic structures from around the area that have been restored and are used to interpret a variety of aspects of this area.  The MAW also hosts Native American Dancers on Wednesday evenings throughout the summer.  The Dances are a fantastic way to get a taste of the Native American Culture that has been such an influential part of our history and are a wonderful compliment to the Native American exhibits and interpretation inside the Fremont County Pioneer Museum.
