Too often their pleas have gone unheeded and their wounds - personal, emotional and financial - have gone unattended. They are entitled to better treatment, and it is time to do something about it. Victim/Witness Services: The Fremont County Victim/Witness Program was created to help crime victims cope with the stress of victimization and to ensure victims receive the services they need and to serve as their advocate. Services provided by the Fremont County Victim/Witness Program include but are not limited to: Emotional support and community service referrals Crisis intervention services Accompanying victim/witnesses to court Information about the status of a criminal case Scheduling of testimony to minimize time Notification of scheduling changes Notification prior to subpoena issuance Assistance with court ordered restitution Assistance in filing victim compensation claims Facilitating the return of evidence Employer and creditor intervention services Transportation to and from court, medical, interviews Child care when needed for appointments to court Service Delivery System for
Prosecutor Based Victim/Witness Service Programs Types of Victims Served: The Victim/Witness Service Program serves all or part of a community - wide system of comprehensive aid to all victims with a specific issue on providing effective cultural service delivery, without regard to race, religion, or sex. Availability of Services: Victim/witness service providers are available to law enforcement, victim and/or witnesses 24 hours a day reciting the assistance of the Victim/Witness Program. Office hours of the Victim/Witness Service Program are weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Types of Services Provided: Immediate Crisis Intervention Response: 24 hour availability to law enforcement, victims and witnesses Upon request go to the hospital, crime scene, victim's house, or other designated point Screen all law enforcement reports within 48 hours of receipt and notify victims of services via telephone, letter, or personal visit Referrals or direct assistance for medical care, food and shelter, clothing, money, child care, property repair, transportation, death notification, body identification, crime scene clean-up, protection through temporary restraining orders, notification of loved ones Wyoming Victim Bill of Rights The right to be treated with compassion, respect and sensitivity within the criminal justice system. The right to know the whereabouts of the Defendant and to be informed about the details and progress of your case. The right to receive restitution from offenders. The right to be informed about Wyoming Crime Victim Compensation. The right to employ an attorney and proceed with civil action. The right to reasonable protection and safety and the right to know of legal recourse if threatened. The right to preservation of employment while participating in the criminal justice process. The right to be informed about the opportunity to make a victim impact statement at sentencing and parole hearings. The right to be provided with the names and official phone numbers and address of the primary individuals working on your case. The right to be present at trial.
